The Creation

Limbus was a university project with the idea of creating a digital space for urban exploration. Focused on abandoned places, paranormal phenomena, and everything that sits at the edge of the unknown.

The name “Limbus” comes from Latin, meaning boundary or edge. It reflects that feeling of being in between life and death, presence and absence, the seen and the hidden. That idea shaped the whole experience.

We designed the platform as a complete system. It includes a map with tagged locations, user-submitted reviews, equipment guides, ethical guidelines for exploration, and access to group trips. There’s also a section for articles and news that keeps the community connected.

The visual identity is simple but textured. A clean sans-serif typeface, a worn logotype that carries a sense of mystery, and a muted color palette tied to nature and decay. The whole site is structured through a grid system that adapts well across devices, keeping the reading experience clear no matter the screen.

We also built out a series of microsites, each with its own identity but part of the larger system, designed to reflect different angles of the same experience.

Limbus is a project about curiosity, caution, and the desire to understand what we usually look away from.
